Puerto Rican Artist Tere Sanz Selected for Exhibition “55 × 2” at the Edward Hopper House Museum in New York

Saint Cloud, Florida — Puerto Rican artist Tere Sanz has been selected for the exhibition “55 × 2,” presented at the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center in Nyack, New York. Her painting Echoes (2025) will be included in the section “Light,” on view March 27 through April 26, 2026.

The exhibition is part of the museum’s 55th anniversary program and explores themes associated with the artistic legacy of Edward Hopper, particularly the interplay of line, light, and atmosphere. The works were selected by guest juror Indira A. Abiskaroon Valbuena.

Sanz’s selection for the Hopper exhibition coincides with another recent international recognition. She has also been admitted by the Curatorial Board of the XVI Florence Biennale, to be held at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, Italy, from October 23 to 31, 2027. The Florence Biennale is among the leading international exhibitions dedicated to contemporary art and design.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and raised in Bayamón, Sanz began exhibiting early in her career, presenting work throughout Puerto Rico and internationally. Her last solo exhibition, Equilibrium (2008), traveled to several venues including the Museo de Arte Caribbean University in Bayamón and the Museum of Visual Materials in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her inclusion in the exhibition at the Edward Hopper House Museum marks a significant return to institutional exhibitions and to the broader conversation of contemporary art. She currently lives and works in Saint Cloud, Florida, where she is developing a new body of work centered on abstraction, material exploration, and the traces left by process on the pictorial surface.

The selected work, Echoes (2025), reflects the artist’s interest in layered construction, erosion-like surfaces, and the relationship between external observation and interior experience.
